Despite having an eventful morning, this afternoon is DRAGGING on and on and on. Maybe its the rain? The cloudy weather? Whatever it is, I can't WAIT for the work day to end.
Luckily, I am meeting up with Carly after work. Our plan: if the rain stops, we walk Greenlake. If the rain continues, we go out for a glass of wine. I'm not sure which way I'm leaning . . . . either sounds great right now. On one hand, I feel like I should walk because I sit at my desk all day. On the other, I know a glass of wine will make me forget that I should be exercising!
I am rambling, I really have nothing to report. Boring day. Boo.

Chug-a-Lug Chug-a-Lug
This weekend is Fremont's annual Oktoberfest!!
My two good friends Philly and Jody lead the production of this event, so the past three years I have worked at it and earned some extra cash. Even with the late hours, it's really fun to work with such an energetic team and at such a happy beer tasting event.
That being said, I am looking forward to ATTENDING Oktoberfest as a patron for the first time this Saturday! I will get my own tasting glass, and I won't have to stay until 2am three nights in a row =) Don't worry Jody and Philly, I will be visiting you between my tastes!!! Woot Woot!

Dog days of Summer
Maholla peeps,
Although I hope I'm wrong, I have a feeling this may be our last week of sunny weather, at least WARM sunny weather, for a while. The old weatherman has called for showers starting this weekend, I guess fall is really here. Jody and I are going to take advantage of today's sunshine with an after work walk.
Maybe I will buy myself a cute sweater to help ease the transition . . .
PS: H&M is now in Seattle . . . . lines wrapped around the block. I think I'll wait until the hype dies down a bit . . . even I won't stand in an hour line to save $20!

Frank the Tank!
You're my boy, blue.
After attending a yummy BBQ at the Fremont house Saturday afternoon, a group of us headed down to the Fremont Outdoor Cinema to catch the showing of OLD SCHOOL.
For the few who haven't seen this classic 'frat pack' movie, the plot is based around a group of 30 year old men who decide to start a fraternity at a nearby university, and then have to challenge administration to keep it up and running. Basically, it's the perfect movie to be shown outdoors, after dark, on a warm evening, with a crowd of 20 and 30 somthings who can quote the entire movie by heart. Everyone was into it, and we had a great time.
Sunday, Alex and I took advantage of the sunny, 75 degree weather, and hiked around Discovery Park. After our urban hike, we joined Andrew, Siena, and Nadia at Memorial Stadium to cheer on Kathy as she finished the 3 Day Breast Cancer walk. There were TONS of people there, and it was cool to be a part of such a great fundraiser. The participants raised $8 million for breast cancer research!!! WOWZA! Kathy walked 60 miles in three days. Participants walked 20 miles during the day, camped out at night, woke up and walked 20 more, camped, and the walked 20 MORE!!! Needless to say, there were a lot of inspiring women with sore feet.

Happy Friday Everyone!
Tonight I am headed to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue to visit two very special patients. Alex's friends recently had twin baby boys!!
The babies were a couple months early, so even though the little guys are 2 weeks old they are still in the hospital. We are told they are doing very well and will get to go home with their mom and dad shortly, but we can't wait to see them so we will be visiting tonight. I will also find out their names since Alex FAILED to ask (durrr) when they called.
Should be a fun night! HOORAY FOR BABY DAY!

Three strikes your out . ..
Well, the Mariners suck this year, but that didn't stop us from having a great time watching them lose! Kathy and Andrew invited Alex and I to the Mariner game last night, Kathy scored her Dad's awesome box seats, and we had a fab time.
Alex had a school workshop until 7, and Andrew and Kathy were coming from Ballard, so I ended up walking down to Safeco field after work. I thought it would be a longish walk, but it only took about 25 min. That, combined with the fact that I wasn't parking, put me in the Pyramid beer garden (our meeting place) a good 45 min before everyone else. Never fear, I drank a wheat ale, sat on the curb and talked on my phone while looking like a huge loser who goes to beer gardens by herself. Oh well, the sun was out and I was happy to be there.
We spent most of our time at the game eating and drinking at the 'Hit-it-Here Cafe' - a great view - and only made it back to our seats after the 'take me out to the ball game' 7th inning stretch. Thankfully, as soon as we were back on the first base line the restless crowd started the WAVE. Best thing to do when your team is 30 games out of first place and losing by 4 runs??? THE WAVE!
Great night- only bummer was it felt like a Friday but was only a Tuesday!!!

ZOOtastic!
Maholla peeps-
I hope everyone had a good weekend. Friday night Vanessa and Nick hosted a fun game night fiesta, complete with steak fajitas and Taboo. We must do game night more often, it was really SO fun. I forgot how funny Taboo can be, funny and FRUSTRATING, haha.
Saturday morning I woke up with a head cold =( . I was sneezing, blowing my nose like crazy, and I only started feeling better as I sat on the deck and drank my coffee. I knew I had to be outside, away from the dust and mess of the house, to get rid of this cold. SO- Alex and I walked to the ZOO! A perk of living in Greenwood, you can walk to the zoo, its that close. It was a sunny day, great zoo weather. We spent a good few hours eating popcorn, and making our way around to all the animals amid heaps of small children. My nose stopped running and it turned out to be a great day. The Flamingo exhibit is being promoted like crazy right now, and I have to admit that they are pretty cool birds. How can they sleep on on skinny skinny skinny leg??? A mystery of nature.

In my mind, I am a Kenyan
Alex and I have been trying to go running at least 4 times a week, and its been really nice so far. Yesterday after work we headed down to Greenlake, and as we started our run I felt shooting pains up and down my shins. Having been accused of being a cheap arse more then once by Alex for not replacing my year and a half old shoes, I kept my complaining to a minimum. I paid for it later that night. My calves were spasming and cramping like crazy- I could barely concentrate on Project Runway it was so bad. BTW- I like Project Runway again, last season I was totally not into it, but this season has brought me back (that, and I caught a marathon while unpacking last weekend).
Good news- I got new shoes! Asics Gel-Speedstar- and they are PRETTY!! Hopefully I didn't do any permanent damage and will be out this afternoon jogging around.

Tennis anyone?
Inspired by the US Open, Alex and I hit the court this labor day weekend for a few friendly games of tennis. Not having played competitively since I was a KJH Colt in 8th grade, and with Alex's skills based solely on childhood outings with his dad, we were a tad rusty. Never the less, it seems that you don't actually have to be good to have a good time playing tennis! And- I think it was more of a workout since we were constantly running after the ball-GO TEAM!
